First Nations' Donors Sojourn to the Southwest

Santa Fe and Albuquerque, New Mexico, served as the scenic and cultural backdrops for a special tour that took nine enthusiastic First Nations supporters to the Pueblos of Jemez, Pojoaque, Santo Clara, Tesuque, and Cochiti to meet First Nations’ grassroots community partners. The Southwest Sojourn Tour gave valued supporters an up-close-and-personal look at the important work they are helping to preserve to strengthen Native communities.

It's My Day!

Today is officially Mother’s Day. The one day out of 365 days where moms, like me, are supposed to drop the laundry basket and not do a damn thing except RELAX! Who, me? Relax? It’s a tall order for most of us mom types. And it was all I could do to stay in bed while I heard my youngest 14-year-old daughter frying up homemade donuts in the kitchen. They smelled good, but all I could think about was, “I wonder where all the grease splatters are flying? I’ll have to clean that up later.”

Northern California Is Miwok Indian Country

Amador County is rich in history. For untold generations, it was inhabited by small bands of Miwok Indians, who sought its cooler, higher elevations to escape the blistering heat of the lowlands, and to harvest their cherished acorns. It is, however, best known as the heart and soul of the Gold Rush era, when people rushed into the region to find their fortune in precious gold, being discovered in rivers, creeks and quartz rocks at every turn.
